The Camp

The Camp is a stunning 26x36 log home, lovingly built by the Blake family almost entirely from logs and timbers harvested, cut, and milled on-site. Construction began in 2004 and was completed in 2006, though finishing touches continue to add charm to this exceptional home.

The structure features a full walkout basement, a spacious main floor, and a 20x26 loft, offering breathtaking lake views from every window. From the deck, you’ll enjoy an impressive 220-degree panorama of the lake.

Interior Highlights

• Materials:

• Main logs: Spruce

• Interior woodwork: Pine

• Living room floors: Brazilian hickory

• Bedroom floors: Pine

• Kitchen and bathroom floors: Porcelain tile

Basement:

The basement includes a 12x14 bedroom with a queen bed and bureau. A second 12x14 room, primarily used for storage, houses toys, fishing gear, and bikes. There is also a kid’s playroom, now home to a high-quality ping pong table that can be moved outside during good weather. Additionally, the basement features a workshop and a wall-mounted propane heater for comfort.

• Bathroom: Located off the kitchen and master bedroom, the bathroom includes a flush toilet, sink with cabinets, a closet, and a fully enclosed tub/shower with excellent water pressure. While plenty of towels are provided, guests are encouraged to bring their own.

Loft: A 4-foot-wide pine staircase leads to the loft, which has six beds and can sleep up to six people. It’s an ideal master bedroom space, offering access to a 6x10 deck with two chairs. The deck provides stunning views, making it perfect for a morning coffee or an evening drink.

Amenities

• Generator: A 7,000-watt propane generator is plumbed directly into the house. A switch on the main floor activates the generator, primarily needed to refill the 60-gallon water tank or run additional electrical appliances. While the home is wired with electric lights, gaslights create a cozy and functional ambiance.

• Kitchen: Fully equipped with all the essentials, you’ll only need to bring food and drinks. The well water is suitable for cooking, but we recommend bringing bottled water for drinking. The refrigerator makes ice, but it’s a good idea to arrive with some to get started.

• Library: Along the cellar staircase, you’ll find a library with over 500 books spanning various genres. Additional books are thoughtfully scattered throughout the home for your enjoyment.

A True Escape

The Camp has no electricity, phone, or television, offering a rare opportunity to unplug and reconnect with nature. However, a solar charger is provided for your electronics, and it works best when placed on the deck in direct sunlight.

This unique log home combines the charm of rustic craftsmanship with the comfort of modern amenities, making it the perfect destination for a peaceful getaway.

Main Floor and Amenities:

• Bedroom: The main floor features a cozy 12x12 bedroom with direct access to the bathroom, offering convenience and privacy.

• Kitchen:  The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas-operated stove and refrigerator, but there is no microwave or dishwasher. A dining table comfortably seats eight, making it ideal for family meals or gatherings.

• Living Room: The living room is a welcoming space with a gas-operated fireplace in the corner, creating a warm ambiance. It is furnished with three couches, a loveseat, two chairs, and a box of toys for children. Double doors lead from the living room to the deck.

• Deck: The wrap-around deck offers an inviting outdoor space with a variety of seating options, a table, and a gas grill, perfect for relaxing or dining with views of the surrounding landscape.

Additional Structures

• Bunkhouse: A 10x16 outdoor shed, located about 50 feet from the main cabin, features a bunk bed and three windows. This space comfortably accommodates 1–2 people and serves as a cozy guest retreat, a children’s hangout, or a peaceful spot for relaxation.

• Storage Shed: A 15x17 storage shed, situated between the home and the bunkhouse, contains kayaks, tools for outdoor activities, bottles, and trash storage. It also houses hand tools and equipment for outdoor games. Please note that the 1972 Kubota 6100 tractor stored in the shed is not available for guest use.

Utilities

Upon arrival, you may need to activate the main propane gas valve and light the appliances. All utilities, including heat stoves, the cooking stove, refrigerator, lights, and hot water, run on propane. These systems are easy to light and designed for safety.
